Barbershop Quartet – Sneak Preview
Barbershop quartets are difficult. Good thing Mark is here to keep me in line.
Salsa, Raptors, and of course Duckbill Platypus
The Williamsburg Salsa Orchestra is playing tonight at the same place as before, in the secret back room of The Lovin’ Cup in Williamsburg of course. I wonder when it was that Williamsburg dropped the H at the end of it? Some Wikipedia experts speculate 1855, when the city of Williamsburgh became part of Brooklyn. I’d say it’s been long enough for that one cafe on Wythe to get in line.
Robotic Raptor is hard at work on finishing our third short film, featuring some really interesting sound-effects and mic work by some guy I’ve never met. Nevermind that. Apparently if you get a mannequin and stick two mics in his ears, it hears things just like people! When mixed with the film and listened to with headphones, everything sounds as if it’s sneaking up on you and whispering in your ear. Sneaky.
Big things in the works for us in the next few weeks as we start work on two other projects and *gasp* maybe even a collaboration in the works. Super Secret Hint: one involves a barbershop quartet!

Broad Daylight, a Robotic Raptor Studios Production
We’re makin’ Pictures here, people. Talkies.
After a year of yelling at each other, my dear friend Erick and many others have joined together to make some movies under the name Robotic Raptor Studios. (We did argue over the name, yes, but you should really check out the graphic if you have a problem with it.) Here is our first, Broad Daylight, for which I inexplicably wrote music to the theme of Shot Through The Heart.

Justin is a composer, writer and filmmaker in Brooklyn, New York. Just like everyone else. He is currently working on various concert commissions, film collaborations, and countless labors of love with dancers, writers, performers, even friends. His writing focuses predominantly on musical philosophies and cultural analysis, which influence more artistically minded side-projects. He ranges from mild-mannered to googly-eyed, and is six-foot two-inches tall.
